6 Things I’ve Been Obsessed with This September

SEPTEMBER

I have a pretty addictive personality, this is why it’s probably best I steer clear of alcohol and cigarettes for the rest of my days! I go through phases with things, especially when it comes to food. If I love it, I’ll be eating, wearing or doing it 24/7 (no pun intended with the latter). And September has been no different. With October right around the corner here are 6 things I’ve been obsessed with this month:

1. Green olives and sun-dried tomatoes

OK so I’ve been eating manzanilla olives and sun-dried tomatoes in excess this month. I just can’t get enough of them! I’ve been munching them together, separately, in salads, as sides, as snacks, in the morning, afternoon and evening – they just seem to hit the right spot every time. If I get serious cravings for food now, what will I be like if and when I get preggers?

2. Heath & Heather Organic Lemon and Ginger tea

I got into a terrible habit at work of buying soya lattes from Caffe Nero – everyday. I tried to make myself feel better by bringing my own cup which got me double stamps, so I got a free drink after 5 visits rather than 10. But I quickly realised this was an expensive habit I needed to break, so I switched to instant coffee which could be made in the office. Which solved the problem of expense, but not my increasing caffeine addiction.

So I decided to make a trip to Holland and Barrett to find a healthier alternative. And that’s where I came across Heath & Heather Organic Lemon and Ginger tea. So long story short, I swapped my coffee addiction for a herbal tea addiction! This tea is so delicious and because it’s naturally caffeine free, I feel like I can indulge without guilt – although anything in excess is probably never a good thing.

3. Leg day

I can’t get enough of leg day at the gym. Barbell squats, leg press, donkey kicks, glute bridge, lunges – ah the lovely list could go on and on. I’ve been hitting my legs hard with no regrets. There’s no question that my lower body is stronger than my upper body. I hope this obsession wears off somewhat as I’d like to increase my upper body strength too. But there is just something so satisfying about my quads feeling like they are on fire after a decent number of reps and sets on the leg press!

4. Cord mini skirts

I have fallen in love with cord mini skirts this month, in particular those sold by trusty Primarni. They are just plain cord skirts, no fuss or frills – but I bought a few colours: grey, beige and burgundy. At £8.00 a pop (excluding the grey which was a steal at £3.00), these skirts paired with a warm jumper, tights and Chelsea boots have been my go-to outfit recently.

5. Braids and salt spray

I’ve always been low maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup. Anything quick and easy is my preferred option. My hair is pretty straight but it has a bit of a wave to it, particularly where my layers have been cut in. This month I’ve been addicted to braiding my hair before bed, usually after a shower. I’ll then wake up in the morning, take out my braids, spray a little salt spray and Bob’s your uncle, my hair is good to go for the day. I’ve never been a fan of poker straight hair and this braid and salt spray technique gives it just the right amount of movement and volume.

6. ‘Bloodstain’ by Wrabel

I’ve had this song on repeat in my car, at the gym, at home – anywhere and everywhere basically! I found this little gem thanks to Spotify Discover and I have been addicted ever since.

What have been your September obsessions?
